The Prosciutto di San Daniele’s consortium was founded in 1961, with the aim of safeguarding the typicality and characteristics of the product, as well as protecting and spreading the name and brand all over the world. The private consortium, made up of companies and 31 producers, protects the brand so that there is no abuse or illegitimate use of such or of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) “Prosciutto di San Daniele”.
The issue of traceability is one of the crucial points in the protection of the San Daniele DOP, as a guarantee for the consortium members and the consumer.
The Consortium’s requirements concerned the creation of a common workspace for all members of the consortium and for the supervisory bodies in charge, for daily work and inspections. This need, in the context of Geographical Indication specialties, is functional to speed up the acquisition of information, validate it with respect to the prescription of the production specification, implement authorization logics aimed at guaranteeing its security, user profiling and the historicization of each activity.
Given the increase in the demand for certified products in packaging, the Prosciutto di San Daniele’s consortium needed a digital solution that could guarantee the authenticity and quality of the cured meat, to avoid counterfeiting.
CERTIFICA is the functional web portal for entering and managing the information provided for in the control plan of the DOP Prosciutto di San Daniele.
